What is Automatic Admission?

Automatic Admission is a system that many universities implement that guarantees college acceptance to students who meet specific requirements, however, this system is not implemented in every university or state. Below is a list of a few universities that have automatic admission:
The University of Arizona: requirements include being an Arizona resident, be ranked in the top 25% of your graduating class, and have a minimum of a 3.0 unweighted GPA.
The University of California: California has a statewide guarantee of automatic admission for any of the UC campuses. The requirements only include the student to be ranked in the top 9% of their graduating class.
The University of St. Francis: requirements include a minimum of a 2.5 GPA along with specific coursework. This includes 4 years of English, 3 years of math, 2 years of social studies, 2 years of science, and 3 years of foreign language/art.
The University of Kansas: requirements include a minimum of a 3.0 GPA with a 24 ACT or 1090 SAT OR a minimum of 3.25 GPA with a 21 ACT or 980 SAT.
Tulane University: requirements include being a Louisiana resident, no disciplinary violations, a minimum of a 3.6 unweighted GPA, 31 ACT or 1450 SAT, and specific coursework. The coursework includes 4 years of English, 3 years of social sciences, 3 years of science, 3 years of math, and 2 years of a foreign language.
The University of Missouri: requirements include a 24 ACT or 1090 SAT with a required core curriculum. This includes 4 years of English, 4 years of math, 3 years of science, 3 years of social studies, 2 years of a foreign language, and ! year of fine arts.
The University of Nevada- Las Vegas: requirements include a minimum of a 3.0 GPA OR a 22 ACT or 1040 SAT.
Oklahoma State University: requirements include a minimum of a 3.0 unweighted GPA and being ranked top 33.3% of your graduating class OR a minimum of a 3.0 unweighted GPA with a 21 ACT or 1060 ACT OR 24 ACT or 1160 SAT.
South Dakota School of Mines: requirements include a 25 ACT (subscore of 25 math) or a 1200 SAT (590 math) and a minimum of a 2.75 GPA.
Middle Tennessee State University: requirements include a minimum 3.0 GPA OR 22 ACT OR 2.7 GPA and 19 ACT.
Texas State Law states that all public universities must guarantee admission to students ranked in the top 10% of their graduating class. Florida has the "Talented Twenty" program that is open to any high school student ranked in the top 20% of their graduating class to attend one of 12 public universities.
The University of Texas- Austin: requirements include being ranked in the top 6% of your graduating class at a Texas high school.
The University of Houston: requirements include a minimum of a 2.5 GPA, the student being ranked in the top 25% of their graduating class, 26 ACT or 1100 SAT.
The University of Texas- Dallas: requirements include being ranked in the top 10% of your graduating class along with earning the Distinguished Level of Achievement.
The University of Texas-San Antonio: requirements include being ranked in the top 25% of your graduating class OR being ranked in the top 50% of your graduating class with a 24 ACT or 1170 SAT.
The University of North Texas: requirements include being ranked in the top 10% of your graduating class OR rank in the top 15% with a 20 ACT or 1130 SAT OR rank 2nd quarter with a 23 ACT or 1150 SAT OR rank 3rd quarter with a 26 ACT or 1250 SAT.
Washington State Unversity: requirements include being ranked in the top 10% of your graduating class OR 3.5 GPA.
As mentioned previously, automatic admission is not offered in every university or state. Do not hesitate to research your state laws or contact admissions officers to find out further information about a specific university.
